From pitch plan to packed boot

A numbered field check keeps the two biggest comfort items in proportion to the trip instead of letting one bulky choice dictate everything else.

  1. 01 — Define the stop

Note whether the trip is a daytime stop, festival pitch, family campsite stay or longer car-based break. This sets a realistic starting point for packed volume.

  2. 02 — Mark the seating zone

Consider the ground, table height and time you expect to sit. Choose low, upright, minimal or reclining seating according to that use.

  3. 03 — Map the sleep space

Measure the sleeping mat and tent floor, then compare those dimensions with single, double, junior or tapered bag formats.

  4. 04 — Check the conditions

Use a current forecast and campsite information. Assess the bag together with shelter, mat, clothing and personal needs.

  5. 05 — Pack and send

Confirm the folded shapes fit your transport, add the items to the basket and send the request with useful trip notes.

Field guide to chairs and sleeping bags

A chair and a sleeping bag answer different comfort needs, but both use transport and storage space, so this guide compares the decisions in a practical order.

Separate the seat decision from the sleep decision

Folding chairs are best compared by seating position, open footprint and folded geometry. A low chair suits a lower posture, an upright high-back format aligns more naturally with a table, and a compact stool makes sense for shorter stops.

Sleeping bags are compared by shape, dimensions, fill, access and how they work with the rest of the sleep setup. Envelope, mummy, double and junior formats each use space differently.

Neither category should be chosen from appearance alone. Think about who will use the item, where it will be opened, how it travels and how it will be dried, cleaned and stored.
